Our 8-week course involves weekly meetings with others in a group setting that includes the following topics:
Foundations of Weight Management: Understanding obesity, philosophy of weight regulation, appetite hormones and weight set point
Nutrition and Dietary Approaches to Weight Management: Healthy eating patterns, evaluating popular diets and calculating energy needs
Behavioral and Lifestyle Interventions: Mindful and intuitive eating, goal setting, weight bias
Physical Activity: Individualizing activity plans per preferences
Support Systems: Overcoming barriers such as stress, sleep, environmental factors and emotional eating
Practical Skills: Meal planning and Monitoring Processes
Group discussion and individual sharing: Relating to other individual situations and creating a supportive community
